Modern Macros for Confluence

Documentation & user guide

Modern Macros for Confluence is a single app that adds five polished macros to your Confluence editor: Status Badge, Callout, Expand/Collapse, Card Grid, and Timeline. This guide explains how to add each macro to a page and how to configure it.

Contents

Getting started

All five macros are added the same way, using Confluence's standard macro insertion flow:

Every feature is available on every plan. The app is free for teams of up to 10 users, with per-user pricing above that. You are never blocked from using a macro.

Status Badge

Add colored, labeled badges to signal status, priority, or any key indicator — ideal for project trackers, release notes, and status tables.

Configuration options

Use a consistent color scheme across a page — for example green for "Done", blue for "In progress", and red for "Blocked" — so readers can scan status at a glance.

Callout

Highlight important information with semantic message blocks that automatically apply the right color and icon for their meaning.

Configuration options

Use the compact mode for short, inline notices, and the full mode when you need a title plus a longer explanation.

Expand/Collapse

Tidy up long pages with collapsible sections. Readers can expand only the parts they need, which keeps documentation scannable.

Configuration options

The "Remember state" option stores a simple open/closed preference per user, so each reader returns to the page exactly as they left it. No personal data is stored.

Card Grid

Present teams, resources, or links as a responsive grid of cards — perfect for team hubs and resource directories.

Configuration options

The grid adapts to the number of columns you choose and wraps cleanly, so it stays readable on narrower screens.

Timeline

Lay out roadmaps, project history, or milestones as a clean vertical timeline with color-coded status indicators.

Configuration options

Use the "current" status to draw attention to where a project stands today, with completed steps above and upcoming steps below.

FAQ

Is the app free?

The app is completely free for teams of up to 10 users. Above that, simple per-user pricing applies, and every feature is available on every plan.

Where is my data stored?

The app runs entirely on Atlassian Forge, with no external servers. The only data it stores is a minimal interface preference (such as whether an Expand/Collapse section is open or closed, per user). No personal data is collected. For details, see the privacy policy linked from the app's Marketplace listing.

Does the app work on Confluence Cloud?

Yes. The app is built for Confluence Cloud and carries the "Runs on Atlassian" designation.

Can I change a macro after inserting it?

Yes. Edit the page, select the macro, and open its configuration panel to change any option at any time.

How do I get support?

You can reach us through the support channel listed on the app's Marketplace listing. We're happy to help with questions, issues, or feature requests.
